We were still over there on the TWIW thread :) Today I have gone for a swim already - and I will go plod later. Will have to find a new place to go swimming soon - after 14 years, we've finally handed in our notice to our gym/pool - when we first joined it was 80 a year, but now that it's gotten to 130 a month, it's finally broken us! Have a great day all

£130 a month today is a quick dip at lunch, then run to and from club track session tonight.

How much swimming do you have to do for £130 pcm to be even remotely near cost-effective?
Exercise ECG today. They're used to putting unfit people with heart conditions on a gentle walk to get their HRs up to 85% Max. I've worked out they'll need me to be going at half marathon pace for that. I wonder if the treadmill will cope...

Disclaimer - that rate was for a couple, not just me. The sports club in question used to be the Shell company sports club - that's why it was so cheap when we first joined. It used to include a subsidised bar and restaurant, plus entry to the sports complex underneath the Shell Centre near Waterloo. Even now membership still includes the gym, swimming, boat house (sailing, rowing, kayaking), squash, tennis, ... and lots more - it's not too bad a value if you use everything, but we just don't use it enough... so it's over. Suspect the open air pool at Hampton will be new swimming home!

I once did a Corporate relay challenge of 4x3k from Shell Centre over Westminster Bridge along Embankment back over Blackfriars Bridge and changeover at Shell Centre. I was on first leg and as the lead pack of about 40 rounded the corner from Westminster bridge along the Embankment, there was a look of sheer panic on a couple of bowler-hatted City gents strolling along about 20 yards from the oncoming masses Your race your pace

If you like playing dodge-people, you should try joining the Nike run along Regent Street from Oxford Circus - the first 100m are through some of the busiest pavements anywhere. Right, I'd better head off for a swim and a run again today (at least, that's the plan) Have a great day all! Stuart

About the same distance for me - lunchtime run - looks sunny :) Hopefully the oncoming big winds won't spoil my plan for a bike ride tomorrow.
