05 May 09 - gchance > Avenue of the Giants Marathon - Sunday, May 03, 2009 - "Due to signal loss underneath the trees, the distance is a bit off. It was 26.2 miles, a Boston-qualifying event. Not that I got a BQ, unless they take 6:21 marathoners. :)"
17 Apr 09 - Hollywoof > gchance - "Scream if I get too techie - or if I'm not techie enough :) For static images, Google does check the referrer tag in each image request - so you normally can't just take the static img urls from rs and copy them across - you do need to replace the g-key. It might appear to work, but I've definitely seen it fail - one thing to watch out for is browser-side cacheing of the image. If static is the way to go then I can definitely help automate the generation of the static map urls for other sites."
17 Apr 09 - gchance > Hollywoof - "I checked from work this morning, and the map displays here just fine. It also displays just fine embedded inline on a messageboard I frequent. The big thing I'm looking for is the ability to embed a static map. The Google Maps dynamic one is good and all but A) it won't embed into a messageboard, and B) it can be slow at times. I've been using MapMyRun for a while now, and if I click a keyword on my blog (long runs for instance), and each one has a map embedded, it's SLOW."
17 Apr 09 - Hollywoof > gchance - "Hi gchance. Thanks for the fab blog post. However, sadly your map won't load for most people! The reason is because it contains a google key for runsat.com - look at the img url for the bit with "key=" - you need a specific for your blog - you can get it here http://code.google.com/apis/maps/signup.html. I'll also see if I can help automate some blogging posts at some point soon... Stuart"
